Contributor Bios

Susan V. Mayer is a second-year graduate student at UNC Charlotte.  Trained as an architect, Susan hopes to combine her background in the built environment with historical research to work in preservation.   She is currently the Outreach Coordinator for the Graduate History Association.  Susan's thesis examines Charlotte's public transportation history and the perceptions and stigmas attached to various forms of transit.

 

Jennifer Welborn is a third-year graduate student at UNC Charlotte. She is nearly finished with both the M.A. in History and the M.A. in Religious Studies.  Jennifer has six years of experience in historic preservation and museum education. She formerly served Concord, NC as a Historic Preservation Commissioner and Vice Chair of the city's Historic Commission.  Jennifer is currently employed in the education department at the Gaston County Museum of Art and History.

 

Alicyn Wiedrich is a second-year Public History graduate student at UNC Charlotte.  With professional experience in exhibits, docentry, collections, and archives, Alicyn hopes to enter into the work force as a museum professional upon graduation.  She is currently the President of the Graduate History Association.  Alicyn's thesis looks at civil rights museums, memorials, and historic sites as well as the visitor experience.

Sean Whittaker is a Graduate Student at UNC Charlotte in the History program, a Graduate Assistant, and the Webmaster for the Graduate History Association.  He has a professional background in marketing and advertising, sales, and project managment.  In History he studies Women and Gender History and European Studies.
