Paul Chatham begins selling lots for the Chatham Estates upscale streetcar suburb

Johnston Courts is planned, but no development begins until the following decade

Midwood is platted, but no homes are built until the late 1920s

Long's Grocery opens on Lawyers Road

Charlotte Rapid Transit Company goes bankrupt, and streetcar service to Chatham Estates ceases

Buses begin operation in Charlotte

Lawyers Road School opens

Duke Power Company replaces all the streetcars with buses

Midwood Men's Club raises funds to build a park for the area

Residences along Masonic Drive begin construction

Residents around The Plaza and Matheson Avenue successfully band together to fight city plans to extend Matheson Avenue through their neighborhoods
