The Lawyers Road School was one of six new schools constructed in 1935. This photo from a news clippings shows the building in the final stages of construction.
The growing area around Chatham Estates quickly outgrew the new Lawyers Road school. A school building program in 1941 funded the addition of an auditorium designed by local architect Charles W. Connelly.

By June 1983, Midwood School was no more. Residents worked to find a tenant for the empty campus. One such idea was for a neighborhood performing arts center.
