Description

On May 19, 1980, the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners met and discussed multiple issues. The bullet that pertains to the East Branch Library is entitled "Plans Changed For Library Relocation." In 1980, the library stood on the corner of Commonwealth and Thomas Avenue. There had been discussion to move the library into a shopping center. Due to the protest of the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, these plans were abandoned.
