Planning A Park

In 1947 the Midwood Men's Association became very concerned that their otherwise fabulous neighborhood lacked a park in which their children could play.  One member of the Association stated, "The future of the community depends upon our youth. Idleness breeds crime and mischief.  If we want our children to have healthy bodies and sound minds, we must have an adequate and safe recreational park."  Other members concurred.

The Midwood Men's Association applied for and received a permit to solicit funds for the creation of their park, and by the following year the Association had raised enough funds to begin construction of Midwood Park.  Today, more than fifty years after this park was created by a neighborhood instead of a government, Midwood Park remains open and continues to provide recreational space for the Plaza Midwood community.
